What does Common Good Labs do?+
Common Good Labs is a software studio in St. Marys, Ontario that designs and builds websites, custom web and mobile apps, and the internal systems and automations that connect a business's tools. We also provide managed server monitoring and maintenance and everyday IT support. We work with small and medium businesses and non-profits across Ontario and remotely across Canada.
Where is Common Good Labs located?+
Our studio is at 172 Queen St E, St. Marys, Ontario, N4X 0B5. We work with clients throughout Perth County, Stratford, and the surrounding region in person, and with clients anywhere in Canada remotely.
How much does a website or custom app cost?+
Every project is scoped and priced to its real needs rather than a fixed package, so cost depends on the work involved. We give a clear, transparent quote up front with no per-seat traps or surprise invoices. The best way to get an accurate number is to start a short discovery conversation with us.
How does a project with Common Good Labs work?+
Engagements follow four calm stages: Discovery (a focused conversation and an honest scope), Design (we shape the experience and prove the hard parts early), Build (heads-down work with a working demo every Friday), and Launch & support (we ship, hand over plain-language docs, and stay close afterwards).
What technologies do you build with?+
We build on modern, durable foundations — typically Next.js and React for web, with accessible, performance-focused, WCAG-aware front ends. We also handle integrations, APIs, realtime and offline-first apps, data and infrastructure, and process automation for internal tooling.
Do you offer server management and IT support?+
Yes. We manage Windows servers and Hyper-V virtual machines — daily monitoring, patching, scheduled monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance, and backups that we verify by actually restoring a file. We also provide everyday IT support for small businesses and non-profits: workstations, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, networks and Wi-Fi, and staff onboarding and offboarding. Do you work with non-profits?+
Yes. Non-profits and registered charities are a core part of who we serve, for both project work and ongoing IT support, and we price that work accordingly. We also help non-profits take up the discounted and donated software licensing they are eligible for.
Do you only work with clients in St. Marys or Stratford?+
No. We're based in St. Marys and love working with local Perth County and Stratford businesses, but we work remotely with clients across Ontario and the rest of Canada.
